Residential Architects Go From Feast-or-Famine To Consistent Inbound Leads
by Will Williamson on 12 Aug 2026, 10:00:00
This client is an award-winning architecture and interior design practice specialising in sustainable residential and commercial projects across London, the UK, and internationally. Their expertise in creating beautiful, energy-efficient buildings had earned them an excellent reputation, but their marketing wasn't delivering the consistent pipeline of enquiries they needed.
Like many professional service businesses, they relied heavily on referrals and word of mouth. While this had helped them build a successful practice, it also created an unpredictable cycle of busy periods followed by quieter months. Their website was eight years old, generated very little traffic, lacked clear calls to action, and wasn't attracting the right type of enquiries.
Although they had already invested in HubSpot and had created valuable guides and resources, they simply didn't have the time to implement a joined-up marketing strategy. Their goal was to move away from feast and famine, attract more commercial and developer clients, and create a predictable flow of qualified inbound enquiries that would support long-term growth.
We designed a tailored marketing programme to help them achieve exactly that.
What We Did
Following competitor analysis, keyword research, and business analysis, we designed a tailored marketing programme focused on replacing inconsistent referrals with a predictable inbound marketing system.
Key achievements include:
- Around 2,300 organic keyword rankings
- 399 website leads generated over a 12-month period
- Nearly 7,000 monthly website visits
- Multiple number one Google rankings
- Regular appearances within Google's AI search results
- More qualified enquiries and high-value projects from organic search
Here’s how we did it:
A Tailored Digital Marketing Programme
After conducting a competitor, keyword, and business analysis, we designed a tailored marketing programme that included:
- Marketing Strategy - We developed a plan to attract their ideal customers, including customer profiling and research into keywords and competitors to create a content and conversion strategy.
- Website Design - A custom design was created on the HubSpot website platform to modernise the look, feel, and user experience of their site.
- SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) - Ongoing SEO and AI Optimisation was also provided to achieve high organic rankings on Google and in AI platforms.
- Content Marketing - We wrote, published, and promoted regular blog articles across social media.
- Email Marketing - News, case studies and blog posts were sent to their email database to stay in touch with past enquiries and customers.
- Lead Generation - We applied several Conversion Rate Optimisation strategies to the website and also created PDF guides to use as part of online lead generation.
- Social Media - Regular social media posts were also published across the branded company social media accounts.
- HubSpot CRM - (Customer Relationship Management) - We introduced HubSpot as a way of tracking the source of all website enquiries, and have now trained the team on how to use it as a CRM system to manage their sales process, quotes and more.
- Access to JDR's Exclusive Video Training Hub - With training videos on sales, social media, video and much more.
Building The Foundations
Although the practice had built an excellent reputation, their website did not reflect the quality of the business. It had become outdated, wasn't structured around the needs of prospective clients, and lacked the content and conversion strategy needed to support long-term marketing success.
Some of the biggest issues included:
- An outdated design that no longer reflected the quality and professionalism of the practice.
- Service pages that didn't clearly explain the firm's expertise or the full range of services they offered.
- Very few opportunities for visitors to enquire, with no clear calls to action or conversion journey.
- Limited trust-building content, making it harder for prospective clients to choose them with confidence.
- A website that was difficult to update, limiting their ability to publish new content and support future marketing campaigns.
So before launching any SEO or lead generation activity, we completely redesigned the client's website.
A New Website Design & HubSpot's Website Platform
We designed and built a completely new website on the HubSpot platform, to support lead generation and the long-term marketing growth they needed.
The web design project included:
- A modern, professional design that better reflected the firm's reputation and improved the overall user experience.
- Rewriting every service page to clearly communicate their expertise, specialisms and value to prospective clients.
- Refining and strengthening the firm's key differentiators, ensuring their unique approach were consistently communicated throughout the website.
- Publishing project case studies, providing powerful social proof and demonstrating the quality of their work.
- Creating location-specific landing pages to improve local SEO visibility across the affluent London areas they wanted to target.
- Designing a clear conversion strategy throughout the website, with strategically placed calls to action, enquiry forms and downloadable resources to generate more qualified enquiries.
The new website then became the foundation for everything that followed...
From Feast And Famine To Consistent Lead Generation
One of the client's biggest objectives was creating a more predictable pipeline of enquiries rather than relying on referrals and word of mouth.
That goal has been achieved.
Over a twelve-month period the website generated 399 enquiries, with lead quality steadily improving as the SEO campaign matured. The team regularly comments that they're receiving more qualified enquiries than ever before, with many leading to genuine project opportunities.
The website has become one of their most valuable business development assets, creating opportunities even when referrals naturally fluctuate.
Ranking For Around 2,300 Keywords In Google

SEO has become one of the biggest drivers of growth.
From a relatively small online presence, the practice now ranks for approximately 2,300 organic keywords, including multiple number one positions for commercially valuable searches.
The business also ranks highly across numerous affluent location-specific searches, helping attract exactly the type of clients they wanted to target.
Becoming One Of Our Strongest AI Search Success Stories
One of the most exciting developments has been the firm's visibility within AI-powered search.
Their website now regularly appears within Google's AI Overviews for relevant architectural searches, while referrals from AI search platforms consistently exceed 100 visitors per month, making them one of the strongest AI search success stories across our client base.
This visibility isn't simply generating traffic.
It is producing genuine business opportunities.
Recent enquiries have included a multi-million-pound residential project, and several high-value sustainable building projects that found the practice through AI and organic search.
Record Website Traffic Growth
As rankings have improved, website traffic has increased dramatically.
March 2026 became one of their strongest months ever, with almost 7,000 website visits, while organic search has generated almost 24,000 visits over the previous year.
Direct traffic has also increased significantly, demonstrating growing brand awareness alongside stronger Google visibility.
Instead of relying on expensive advertising or unpredictable referrals, the website is now consistently attracting prospective clients who are actively searching for sustainable architectural services.
Content Marketing Continues To Build Authority
Content has played a major role in the campaign.
JDR Group have planned, written and published regular & consistent articles answering the questions their ideal clients are asking. These articles support their SEO strategy, demonstrate expertise and attract visitors throughout the buying journey.
The content also performs well on social media.
One individual LinkedIn post generated more than 72,000 impressions and drove hundreds of visitors back to the website, helping strengthen both brand awareness and lead generation.
A HubSpot Website Has Put Them In Control
Moving the website into HubSpot has provided benefits far beyond marketing.
The team can now easily update projects, publish new content, manage landing pages and monitor enquiries without relying on external developers for every website change.
Marketing automation nurtures prospects through the buying journey, while the CRM provides a clearer view of opportunities and sales activity.
The client has described the flexibility of HubSpot as a major advantage and an investment that continues to deliver value.
How Else We've Helped
Alongside generating more traffic and enquiries, we've helped the business develop a much more structured approach to marketing.
Today they have:
- A modern website built around conversion
- A clear SEO strategy targeting their ideal clients
- Marketing systems that run consistently alongside project delivery
- Greater confidence using HubSpot and understanding their marketing performance
- A sustainable platform for continued long-term growth
Most importantly, they're no longer relying solely on referrals to fill their pipeline. They now have a marketing system that consistently attracts new opportunities while strengthening their reputation as one of London's leading sustainable architecture practices.
Summary
When this client first approached us, they wanted to escape the uncertainty of feast and famine trading by creating a more reliable source of high-quality enquiries.
Through a combination of strategic website development, HubSpot implementation, SEO, content marketing and lead generation, they've transformed their online visibility.
Today they rank for around 1,600 keywords, generate thousands of website visitors every month, receive hundreds of enquiries each year and are even attracting clients through Google's AI search results.
Most importantly, they now have a predictable inbound marketing system supporting the continued growth of their business.
