Propel Your Content Marketing To The Stratosphere With These 6 Top Tips!
by Leanne Mordue on 22-Mar-2017 09:32:00
Content creation and content marketing have always been a vital component of any digital marketing strategy. However, with the rise of inbound marketing over recent years, the way you create and market your content has grown in importance. If you get your content strategy right first time round it sets up the foundations for a successful and profitable business marketing campaign.
In this article, we will be sharing 6 top content marketing tips with you to help you propel your content to new heights.
1) Create A Buyer Persona
Before you do anything and I mean ANYTHING, create a buyer persona. If you don't know what a buyer persona is, it is a semi-fictional representation of your ideal customer based on market research and real data from your existing customers. The first step into creating your buyer persona should be to look at your target market. Who buys your products and services? The idea of a buyer persona is to create a document listing their demographics, likes and dislikes, business goals, challenges and more. The more detailed you can be, the more accurate and more precise you can be with your content marketing strategy. 2) Create A Plan For Creation
My next tip comes after your buyer persona has been created. Now you know who you are marketing to you need to create a plan of what content you are going to create for your audience and how you are going to promote it.
Creating a content creation plan shouldn't be too difficult. It should be like a calendar and should include:
- Ideas for article titles
- Keywords researched based around these titles
- The date the content should be written and published for
- Which persona the piece of content is aimed at
- The type of content you are producing i.e. article, video, infographic etc.

3) Create A Plan For Promotion
Creating a plan for how you want to promote your valuable content is another key element to successful content marketing. Go back to your buyer personas and think about how they process information and where they will be looking for content online. You then want to look at how you can plan getting your content right in front of them. There are a few ways you can do this:
- Highly targeting Social Media advertising through Facebook, Twitter and other Social Media platforms
- Organic Social Media posting
- Guest blogging
- Email outreach
- Your own website
And much more.
There are many ways in which you can promote your content but the key here really is to try different methods, test them and find out what works for you.
Bonus Tip: Throughout your entire digital marketing campaign you should be testing, analysing and reviewing at every stage!
4) Build Content Around A Take Away For The Audience
When you are creating your content, build it around a take away for your audience. By this I mean make it valuable to them. Give them something they will appreciate and potentially share with others in their circle. This will help maximise the reach of your content and will also keep your audience engaged so they keep coming back for more!
5) Long Form Content
The content you are producing should be as detailed as possible. Don't just write 200-300 words, write a piece of long form content around 800-1000 words or a detailed infographic etc. More detailed content will be more valuable for your audience as you will be able to give more and explain things more. Also, there is a proven correlation between the amount of content a web page has and its ranking. Producing your content in long form will mean it ranks better, keeps your audience captivated and ultimately gets you better results.
6) Consistency
My final top tip, to help propel your content to new heights, is consistency. When it comes to producing and promoting content, consistency is key. It's no good producing two great pieces of content in a week and then doing nothing for the next few weeks. Sporadic content creation will not work. You need to create quality content on a regular basis, weekly if possible. The more you can produce and promote the more effective it will be, as long as the quality isn't impacted. Creating a content plan like I mentioned earlier can really help with your consistency.
